I am Begoña García. I encountered the Wim Hof Method 4 years ago, when I was desperate trying to find a way to heal the chronic inflammation that caused my body to be permanently bloated due to the high levels of stress my work as a criminal lawyer at the time required. 

Parallel to that process, Orcas suddenly started to appear in my dreams on a regular basis. And my curiosity to unravel the message hidden in those dreams led me to a very unexpected journey to Norway. I needed to show up to them, and  listen to what they had to say. I needed to show up to them, without knowing I would end up showing up for myself.

Seeing into the eye of an orca requires you to dive in the coldest waters of the world. The Artic sea can reach temperatures below 0°. I understood I needed to train my body and my mind in order to be able to physically and mentally be able to cope with that inhospitable environment and be comfortable in such discomfort in order to seize the experience.

So the challenge began…

I found the Wim Hof Method and my mind (and soul) simply exploded. I was instantly hooked to the feeling of peace that diving my body into the ice every single day provoked. After a few months,  I observed how not only my inflammation started to cease, but how my inner peace started to impact the way I related to those around me. I HAD to understand what was the science behind this magic. 

I got certified by the WHM Academy in 2021 in Poland, with the Ice Man himself and by understanding the science behind cold exposure, it all started to make sense. Every step of the methodology had a reason to be. The result was that, for the first time, in a way, I understood my body as a powerful machine that can be used to my advantage. 

By sharing my personal experience through social media, El Club del Hielo suddenly came to life. Hundreds of people curious to understand my obsession with the ice reached out wanting to try my “crazy” hobby. Today, more than 1000 Mexicans have dove into the ice through El Club del Hielo experience, understanding the science behind the WHM. We have built a community of people that supports each other in the journey of seeking discomfort, using the ice as a tool that unites us in the quest of overcoming our fears in order to reach our unique human potential. 

Today, I see clearly the message embedded in the orca´s calling. The journey they took me in, now became one of my life´s missions: help people discover the ice as a tool to empower their unique human potential.
