The Wim Hof Method is a very effective way to deal with depression. Learn...
Read MoreCannabinoid signaling in your brain helps maintain or regain homeostasis by modulating the stress response, and researchers from Wayne State University had a hunch that Wim Hof Method practice could improve mood by directly impacting those signaling pathways.
To test this, they had volunteers undergo a 6-week Wim Hof Method training, and used PET and fMRI scans to detect changes in cannabinoid type 1 (CB1) receptor binding. They subsequently found “substantial increases in CB1 receptor binding across the brain”, which is strongly associated with improvements in mood and anxiety.
These promising results suggest that the Wim Hof Method is an effective way to lift your mood and keep down stress, and has potential to be used in that capacity clinically.
