I had my first Ice Bath in Spain with Wim Hof himself in 2019. I was led by… curiosity! I had heard about Wim and about his many famous world records for quite a long time, and I was deeply intrigued by his amazing achievements. How on earth can a normal human being survive happily for nearly 2 hours totally immersed in ice? I was blown away by his exploits and this mystery triggered the Research Scientist in me.
Well, my debut with ice was quite infamous - more like a Jack-in-the-Box performance: after one minute I jumped out of the ice, while my partners were able to stay in! Stubborn I am, so I jumped back in and stayed 7 minutes, to my utter surprise. It was the beginning of my adventures with the cold.
I was hooked. For 3 continuous years, I trained with the Wim Hof Method including breathing, cold showers and much more.
Climbing the mountain in Poland in shorts and no jacket in the middle of December in temperatures of minus 5*C (23F and -12*C/10F perceived at the top with a nasty wind pushing the snow towards us) was another memorable step in my icy-cold career. Another total surprise. Before going to Poland in Wim Hof base camp, I was admiring so much these incredible super-athletes surrounding Wim, half naked, braving the freezing cold to climb Mount Sniezka. As with my 2019 icy adventure in Spain, I was there in Poland to see and understand rather than to do, not at all convinced that I could climb a frigid mountain.
And I did it, even if I was by far the oldest one. I loved it all. Even more, the strong and lasting bond I forged with my half-naked companions. I also dug into another mystery: how could I surrender to the moment and at the same time how could I become this fighter completely engaged & determined to get to the summit, yet simultaneously incredibly at peace with myself.
I could write on and on about the cold. No surprise, I am also a writer. But to cut my background story short, I want to share with you my desire to be your Wim Hof Instructor. I want to share with you what is changing my life, totally, completely and at high speed.
My experience with the cold is changing me from deep inside, from top to bottom. My mind is becoming stronger than ever, my determination continues to grow, my energy level is incredibly high, my pains are fading away, and my flexibility and strength are increasing in an obvious manner. I feel that I am getting younger by the days (by the way this is the name of the company I created) instead of getting old. And I am not joking. You can see it. And I want to share it. I lead by example and “walk my talk”.
I want to inspire you as much as Wim Hof is inspiring me. The cold is my teacher, as Wim often says, and it is becoming true for me as well.
It is true that this practice is not my only learned skill. I am also a lifelong yoga practitioner and teacher, a Qigong instructor, and I am trained in Acupuncture and Eastern Medicine. They have all contributed to improve my health and to make me an (excellent ?) health & personal development coach. However, I must recognize that my icy-cold practice is growing on me as much as I am growing as a human being, not afraid to step out of my comfort zone, to live each day feeling more and more vibrant and full of life. Yes, I want to teach you the Wim Hof Method. Join me and the other great WHM Instructors in this incredible and enjoyable adventure!
See you very soon in one of my workshops!
P.S. I forgot to tell you that I am French and I live in California.
